Goblr started because I got tired of scrolling through endless restaurant reviews that didn't actually tell me what I needed to know. A 4-star rating doesn't mean much if I don't know whether the place is good for a birthday dinner or just a quick lunch with friends. So I decided to visit restaurants myself and write honest reviews based on what I experienced — not what an algorithm scraped off the internet. Along the way, I realized occasion alone wasn't the whole picture either — two people going out for the same reason can still want completely different things. So Goblr also learns a bit about you: the vibe you're into, the cuisines you enjoy, what actually matters to you when you're picking a place. This way, people can find the restaurant that's actually right for them, without surfing the entire internet to get there.
Our purpose
Bangalore has so many restaurants that picking the right one can honestly feel overwhelming. The problem isn't finding a good restaurant — it's finding the right one for what you're actually doing, and who you actually are. A place that's great for a family dinner might not work at all for a night out with friends, and somewhere perfect for a celebration could be totally wrong if you're just trying to eat on a budget. Even within the same occasion, someone who wants a quiet, calm evening needs a completely different recommendation than someone chasing a lively night out. That's the gap Goblr is trying to fill — reviews built around occasions and real preferences, not just generic ratings.
How we review
I visit every restaurant on this site in person — no exceptions. At each one, I order and try a signature dish, sit with the space and actually experience it as a customer would, and take my own photos of the food, the space, and the vibe. Then I rate everything using the same rubric — Taste, Presentation, Service, Ambience, and Value for Money — each out of 5 stars, averaged into one overall score. It's consistent, and it's based on actually being there. On top of that, when you tell Goblr a bit about what you're looking for, it uses those same honest reviews to point you toward the places that actually fit — not just the ones that fit the occasion, but the ones that fit you.
The Goblr rating rubric
Every restaurant is scored out of 5 across these five categories. Here is what each star means.

A note on low scores
You'll notice some restaurants featured under an occasion still carry a rating under 3 out of 5 — that isn't a mistake. Being listed as a pick for Friends or Celebrations only means the place suits that kind of evening; it says nothing about how good the food, service, or value turned out to be. The two are scored completely independently. Nobody pays to appear here, no restaurant sees a review before it goes up, and a score never gets nudged upward because a place is popular or because I was treated well. If somewhere earned a 1.8, it kept the 1.8 — and the "Would I return?" answer on each page tells you plainly whether I'd go back, regardless of the number above it.
